Med 2026 calendar: when owners look for crew
Real hiring windows by region — when yachts move in Mallorca, Ibiza, Côte d'Azur and Sardinia.
The Mediterranean summer season concentrates most of the hiring in a fourteen-week window, but the specific dates vary by region and yacht size. Understanding those windows is the difference between signing in late March and still waiting in May.
Mallorca and Ibiza open first. Management companies based in Palma start reaching out to crew from the first week of March, with in-person interviews during STP Palma Superyacht Show (late April). Yachts attending Monaco Yacht Show want crew locked in before 15 May to shake down ahead of the June charter run.
The Côte d'Azur and Saint-Tropez follow a later pattern: contracts close between April and mid-May, with most effective starts on 1 June. Yachts operating under the French Commercial Exemption scheme have longer admin runs and prefer to close early.
Sardinia and Corsica hire late May or early June. Porto Cervo charters typically start 20 June and run until 10 September, with extra windows in October if the yacht crosses to the Caribbean.
In every case, being visible from March in a catalog with a full profile and verified certificates multiplies the opportunities. Captains hire first whoever they find ready and checkable, and only then look at whoever has been spraying CVs for weeks.
