Chase Corfield

Dear Hiring Manager, I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and share a little about who I am and what has led me to pursue a career at sea. My name is Chase Corfield, and I come from South Africa. My passion for the ocean began at a very young age. From the age of three, my dad took me out regularly on dive boats and fishing boats, and that's where I truly fell in love with the ocean. Some of my happiest memories have been spent on or in the water—whether it was boating, fishing, scuba diving, surfing, or simply being out at sea. The ocean has always felt like home, and pursuing a career on the water feels like a natural path for me. Growing up around boats gave me valuable hands-on experience and taught me to respect the sea from an early age. I have experience with boat handling, launching and retrieving vessels, basic maintenance, cleaning, fishing, and working in a marine environment. I understand that working on a vessel requires teamwork, discipline, reliability, and a willingness to work hard, and these are qualities I pride myself on. To prepare myself for a professional career in the maritime industry, I have completed my STCW Basic Safety Training and hold my Powerboat Level 2 qualification. I am fit, healthy, a confident swimmer, and eager to continue learning from experienced crew while building a long-term career within the industry. I understand that I am applying as an entry-level deckhand, and I know that every opportunity must be earned. I am not afraid of hard work, long hours, or getting my hands dirty. Whether it's cleaning, maintenance, assisting guests, deck operations, watchkeeping, or helping wherever needed, I will always give my best and approach every task with a positive attitude. Although I do not currently hold a working visa, I am fully prepared to begin the application process immediately upon securing employment and am available to travel as soon as it is approved.
